The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is a part time, 2 year course which will benefit learners who want to train to become a counsellor working within an agency setting.  The manner of learning is face to face teaching for 1 day a week, in groups of no more than 12 individuals.  This principle of small classes means that our students are able to explore important issues in a safe and confidential environment.

The Level 4 Diploma provides:

  • a coherent vocational and professional counselling training using an integrative model of Person Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis theoretical perspectives within a containing framework of the Therapeutic Relationship.

  • a competence based training which highlights the development of skilled practice via experiential learning

  • specific training for the role of counsellor in an agency setting

  • the opportunity to learn about a wide range of counselling specialisms and techniques

  • a pathway onto the Open University Foundation Degree in Counselling.

  • Working self-reflectively as a counsellor

  • Guided learning hours 450 over 2 years

  • Credit value 120

  • Minimum age 25 years

Successful candidates may progress on to:

Working as a counsellor within an agency setting.

Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision
Open University Foundation Degree in Counselling

Entry Requirements

You must have both Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, or their equivalent.  Find out more by following this link to the CPCAB website.

Fees are inclusive of CPCAB registration fees, external assessment fees, and 2 fully catered residential weekends.

Fees are not inclusive of text books, personal therapy or supervision. You will be required to complete 40 hours of personal therapy in addition to your training.
